Fit entertainment into the daily solar budget

Entertainment is a flexible load: it can grow on sunny days and shrink in a dull week, without touching critical loads.

How

  1. Use the entertainment energy calculator to get Wh per day and its share of the daily solar budget from power-1.
  2. Set a normal share and a reduced share for poor-sun weeks, and write both on the family routine sheet.
  3. Read the battery monitor before film night, as taught in living-5. If the state of charge is low, switch to audio, a smaller screen or a screen-free evening.
  4. Follow the seasonal load plan in living-6 and power-25: more screen time in summer surplus, less in the winter design month.
