Harvest and record yields

Harvest at peak quality and weigh what each bed produces. Records turn guesses into a plan you can trust next year.

How

  1. Harvest in the cool of the morning and pick often: many crops (beans, courgettes, herbs) keep producing only if harvested regularly.
  2. Keep a scale and notebook or spreadsheet by the kitchen door. Record date, crop, bed and weight.
  3. Note what you preserved, gave away and wasted. UGA Extension suggests recording how much you produce and use each year to plan more efficiently.
  4. At season end, total yield by crop and compare with your food goal (food-1) and the per-person planting amounts you used.
  5. Adjust next year's row lengths and plant numbers from your own figures.
