Set up the communications corner

Radios, chargers, the offline information library and paper contact lists work best in one known place. A small corner or desk is enough.

How

  1. Choose a spot close to where the antenna feed line enters the house, on an inside wall, as comms-14 discusses for lightning protection.
  2. Fit a desk, a wall board for the channel card and PACE plan (comms-2, comms-3), and a shelf for the receivers from comms-5.
  3. Wire it to the dedicated comms battery from comms-16, with a labelled charging shelf for handheld radios and spare batteries (comms-17).
  4. Give it its own small LED desk lamp so it can run on very little power at night.
