Light the approaches and lock outbuildings
Good lighting and locked outbuildings remove cover and tools a burglar could use.
How
- Light doors and parking areas with external lights on a dusk-to-dawn photocell with a manual override.
- ProtectUK does not recommend bollard lights, because they do not light at the right height.
- Choose low-wattage lamps so they do not drain the battery bank (power module).
- Secure shed doors with two substantial hasps and staples and closed-shackle padlocks. Replace external hinge screws with security screws.
- Lock away or fix ladders and tools that could be used to get into the house.
