Run the site: meetings, changes and inspections

Day-to-day management keeps work on schedule, on budget and compliant.

How

  1. Hold a short site meeting each week: progress against the schedule, next week's tasks, problems, deliveries.
  2. Use a change log: any change is written, priced and approved before work starts.
  3. Book each required inspection in good time and never cover work that is awaiting inspection.
  4. Keep a site diary with dates, weather, who was on site, and photos of work before it is covered (pipes, cables, insulation, foundations).
  5. Compare actual costs with the cost plan monthly.
  6. England example: you may also need to consider the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 for health and safety; ask your building control body.

Safety: Construction sites are dangerous. Follow your local construction safety rules and see the safety module.
